Can you be truly you?

In a society that’s constantly evolving and can be unforgiving, can you really set your boundaries to remain true to yourself?

your aspirations, dislikes, beliefs, sense of self

I’m not gonna lie. It’s hard to be living your truth if your truth offends others. And I think this is where it can get confusing hence we end up allowing someone else’s truth imposed unto us.

Self-awareness is key. It’s not something we can rush but it is everything. And it’s not just about dealing with people, it’s also about being aware of what you’re truly passionate about. Are you pursuing that calling that makes you, truly you?

I gravitate towards arts and crafts. I love my full time work in digital media but all the weekends I spent in my art room as a serial crafter… that’s when I am truly me. I sweat glitters and I love it. Time stops when I mix and match fabric, stitch and sew. I suck at painting and ukulele but I still enjoy it. Just writing about these make me smile. Crafting gives me bliss. It is my true nature and somehow along the way, life has been kind to reveal really good opportunities that allow me to balance my “what should be and what is”.

I feel that our true nature doesn’t care about what we do for a living or how much $$$ we have. Our truest truth only cares about connecting with us. Will you give it a room or let it slip away?

I too love to craft and make garden decors. I love this side hustle so much I’m thinking of going full time. I have to come realise that when you listen to your own “truth”, nothing else truly matters and everything just falls into place.

Hi Sheila, what type of garden decors do you create? Perhaps you can share your website here as I’m also into gardening and looking at giving it a makeover 🙂

    Aurora here.

I think pursuing your truth depends on how much you are wiling to trade off.
I am all for passion and speaking your mind but like you said, when your words could hurt, maybe it’s not worth it.
As for side hustles, to be honest I wish I’m like some people who know what they resonate with. I think knowing what twinkles your eyes itself is a gift.
You are lucky you are self aware and you are actually doing something about it. Most people don’t even know what they want outside their 9-6. Based on your personal experiences, how does one find her inner creativity or passion?

I really love how your blog is transitioning from your normal reviews to these thought-inviting short posts.

    Much love from Indonesia

Sobrang truths nito! Sana makahanap ako ng hobby na magdaragdag ng kulay sa aking everyday routine. Paano at saan ba magsisimula? Paano mo nahahanap yung motivation? Please advise

As to paano ko nahanap ang drive to keep creating? I think kasi as a child, arts and crafts or anything makulay and nitty gritty are things I tend to gravitate towards. I took a stab at video editing rin. I guess at one point, no matter how much you evade it, hahanapin ka ng craft mo. And when that happens, do something about it. You don’t have to master it right away naman. I agree that your hobby can add kulay talaga to an otherwise blah routine ng life. Go Jaime!
